Annamalai University is established in 1929 and it’s a public university. This university is state university and located at Annamalai nagar, Tamil nadu, India. The main aim of the university is to provide education to those candidates who are unable to attend the campus but they want to study. They offer higher education in science and arts stream. The university has affiliation by university Grant commission. The university has 2500 teaching staff and 48 departments. When the university is started they have only seven Departments. The university is established by Dr. Rajah Sir Annamalai Chettiar a great philanthropist.

Eligibility for Bed admission:

Candidate must complete graduate degree from following subjects History, Geography, environmental Science, Microbiology, applied chemistry, bio chemistry, computer science, applied physics, botany, zoology, Mathematics, chemistry, Physics, Tamil, and English. If any candidate completes economics, some science, and commerce only post-graduation marks are measured. Candidate who complete direct post-graduation without 12th those candidate are not qualified. Regular teachers in Tamil nadu state with minimum two years’ experience are eligible.

Admission Procedure:

Candidates get application form on university cash counter by paying cash and if any candidate want the application form by post those candidates send Demand draft in the favour of the director DDE, Annamalai university payable at Chennai and send this before august month.

Selection procedure:

Annamalai University gives admission to the candidates on the basis of written entrance examination.  Admission to the candidate will be done on the basis of Merit.

General Information:

The University provides facilities to the student like Hostel, yoga center, central library, sports material, auditorium, staff creation club, co-operative stores etc. The campus of Annamalai University is rural and it covers thousand acres of area. In 2005 they open small campus in Toronto, Canada, Dubai and sharjah

The Annamalai University Directorate of Distance Education was established in the year 1979. If provides four hundred and one diverse study programs under Regular Stream. It is accredited with largest enrolment within India and well resourced with adequate teaching faculty, computer as well as other infrastructure, administrative set-up for its own, computer training centres, study centres, etc. to serve up its students  in the best interest within their door steps. The Annamalai University has the unique characteristic of offering Postgraduate Degree Programs in subjects like Physics, Applied Psychology, Zoology, Chemistry, Botany, Law, and Bioinformatics, for the first time in India via the Distance Education mode. Directorate of Distance Education also offers the Programs on Textile Design, Fashion Design, Hotel Management, Catering Technology, and Interior Design Programs, Twinning Program, Retail Management, Commonwealth Youth Program, Programs on Yoga, Health Science, Music, and Safety, Fire, Taxation and Pharmaceutical Programs. 

All programs of the study provided by Directorate of Distance Education have approval of Distance Education Council, from New Delhi. The Directorate is introducing the B.Ed. Program via distance education mode since year 2008-09 with approval from National Council for Teacher Education, in New Delhi. The B.Ed. course offered by the Annamalai University is of 2 years duration. 

Eligibility: 

The candidate needs t have graduate degree under 10+2+3 or the 11+1+3 pattern having one of the main subjects in Part III like English, Tamil (B.A.), Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Zoology, Botany, Applied Physics, Computer Science, Bio-chemistry, Applied Chemistry, Micro-Biology, Environmental Science, Geography, and History. In case of Commerce, Home Science, and Economics subjects, only Post Graduation qualification will be measured. Candidates, who have completed a direct under graduation degree without 10+2 qualification and the candidates having direct post graduation degree without the under graduation degree are not qualified. 

Admission will be given after the written entrance examination. In reference to the NCTE standards, the regular teachers working for primary, secondary, middle, or higher secondary schools of Tamilnadu, accepted by the State or Central government, having minimum 2-years of teaching experience are eligible. Yet, the allocation of optional subjects is according to the DDE.

The same can be obtained through post or by downloading from website www.annamalaiuniversity.ac.in  the form can be obtained through post by paying the amount through DD drawn under the favor of The Registrar, Annamalai University, and Tamil Nadu.
