College of teacher education is also known as (GCTE) Government College of teacher education. The college is formed in the year of 1950. It is affiliated institution to the University of Madras and the college is recognized National council of teacher education. College of teacher education is located in Kozhikode. The college is premier institution devoted to quality teacher training at secondary level. The main mission of college is to create a shared understanding of the vision among the beneficiaries, Develop a sense of professional commitment and accountability in the trainees.Instill in the trainees specific skills needed for discharging duties as responsible citizens.

Eligibility for Bed admission:

Candidate should have complete graduation from recognized university. Eligibility for written test is a degree from concerned subject. Candidate gets admission as per their category. For general category 45 % marks, SEBC 42 % marks, ST, SC 35 % marks are required to get admission.

Admission procedure:

The application forms and prospectus are available on the office of the entrance commissioner and submit the forms before the due date.

Selection Procedure:

College of teacher education conducts Entrance examination the test is state level test is conducted by the commissioner for entrance examination. The selection of candidate is done on the basis of score obtained in entrance examination and merit in the qualifying examination.

General Information:

The entrance test contain 150 question and conducted on following subject communication in English 40 question, General Knowledge 40 question, reasoning 40 question, computer awareness 30 question, aptitude for teaching 20 question. The institute is well equipped general library. Library has seating capacity of 60 students at a time. The library is connected with internet facility. The institute also have ladies hostel. They provide following facility like computer laboratory, seminar halls, multi-purpose auditorium, sports and games facility etc.
